on Matras…

My mother taught me from a very young age that thoughts become things. I recall having a major panic attack before taking my MCAT’s. I remember thinking “I am not prepared for this test, I’m gonna fail, I am never gonna to be a Doctor.” She encouraged me to shift my perspective and think in a more positive way. She asked me to breathe deep and repeat “everything is gonna work out” over and over again. After a few minutes, I felt more peaceful and confident. Eventually, I realized that she had coached me through a mantra meditation to redirect my thoughts in a more purposeful way.

Mantras have been around for at least 3000 years. In Sanskrit, the word mantra is derived from “man”- to think and “-tra” meaning, tool. ” Yogis and others alike believed that mantras were an “instrument of thought,” and a powerful tool for meditation and devotion. They also referred to them as “sacred messages, texts, charms and spells.”

These days, most of us use mantras as positive affirmations and intentions to invite more peace and presence into our lives. When we repeatedly recite a mantra, we get access to our subconscious mind. Repeating a positive statement over and over again makes a lasting imprint on our subconscious, which can help us flip the switch from negative and depleting thoughts to positive and uplifting ones.

According to Cleveland Clinic Wellness, as human beings, 95% of the thoughts we have daily are the same thoughts from the previous day. On average, 80% of these thoughts are negative.

Imagine what a small shift in our thought patterns could do for us?

What if  we focus our energy on what’s working versus what’s not working?

What would happen if we flipped the switch from depleting to uplifting thoughts?

What we focus on we expand. So for the month of May, I am committing to incorporating a weekly mantra to direct my energy into manifesting more goodness in my life. I want to attract more positive and high-vibing experiences to continue to live a life that is rooted in peace and joy.

Wanna join me?

Post your mantra below

Let’s elevate our intentions and continue to vibrate at a frequency that keeps our life flowing smoothly.
